Community Service Programs

The Department of Parks and Recreation is committed to improving the quality of life for the citizens of the District of Columbia. Through our community outreach services, we have instituted several programs to improve our infrastructure and form community alliances. Program Description
Capital Projects DC Parks and Recreation is committed to improving the quality of facilities and related infrastructure in response to community needs.
Corporate Outreach Private businesses and organizations have many opportunities to contribute to their communities and gain recognition for their generosity by supporting the Department of Parks and Recreation programs.
Green Spaces for DC Green Spaces for DC, a non-profit organization, works closely with DPR to deliver open, accessible and aesthetically pleasing parks and recreational facilities.
Recreation Activity Councils Individuals, living right in your neighborhood, helping to tailor programs unique to the boys and girls, families and other residents living there.
Roving Leader Program for Teens The ever-changing needs and interests of District youth prompted the Department of Parks and Recreation to move beyond the traditional concept of urban recreation, and begin operations of the Urban Services Division.
Volunteers in Action The Volunteers-in-Action Program provides numerous opportunities for individuals to share their time, talents, and knowledge to help others.
